Which protein bars have no sucralose or artificial sweeteners?
Pick a bar whose ingredient list names none of FDA's six approved sweetener additives: sucralose, aspartame, acesulfame potassium, saccharin, neotame, or advantame. Genesee's current labels list none. On manufacturer pages checked September 28, 2026, RXBAR Chocolate Sea Salt listed none, while Quest Double Chocolate Chunk and Barebells Cookies & Cream listed sucralose.
US food rules do not define artificial sweetener. This page uses the term for the six high-intensity sweeteners FDA has approved as food additives, and lists stevia and monk fruit extracts separately as plant-derived high-intensity sweeteners that FDA has reviewed through GRAS notices.
Which ingredient names mean a high-intensity sweetener?
FDA-approved sweetener additives: sucralose, aspartame, acesulfame potassium (also written acesulfame K or Ace-K), saccharin, neotame, and advantame. Plant-derived high-intensity sweeteners: steviol glycosides (often listed as stevia or stevia extract), monk fruit (luo han guo) extract, and thaumatin. Sugar alcohols such as erythritol and maltitol are a separate class, and a bar without sucralose may still use them.
What does Genesee use instead of sucralose?
Genesee's current labels list raw honey in every flavor, plus coconut sugar in Coffee Latte's chocolate chips and cane sugar in White Chocolate Toffee's white-chocolate chips. That means real sugar: 12-14g total sugars and 11-13g added sugars per 60g bar. A bar with no artificial sweeteners is not automatically lower in sugar. Recipes and labels can change. Check the package you receive for the current ingredients, nutrition facts, allergens, and caffeine disclosure.

No high-intensity sweetener is listed on Genesee's current labels: no sucralose, aspartame, acesulfame potassium, saccharin, neotame, advantame, stevia, or monk fruit. The bars use raw honey, plus coconut or cane sugar in two flavors, so they are not low in sugar.
